Even with flights of fancy, simplicity and practicality are desirable. Building on an old concept using Horse power, one can envisage a "conveyor belt” along the central aisle of a coach, geared to the wheels.. Some of the passengers, as many as necessary, would need to “walk” along the belt to...

Whilst a tubular pipe to withstand 185 psi is not at all difficult, and requires little metal, a pipe with a longitudinal slot in it is quite a difficult item to design to withstand high internal pressure. Coincidentally I passed by the Starcross pump house yesterday, a very substantial building. Tony
